Nashville SC finished with a flourish at Q2 Stadium on Saturday, October 10, securing a 4–1 victory over Austin FC in Major League Soccer. The visitors’ two-goal advantage briefly looked vulnerable before two late strikes put the result beyond doubt.
Nashville build their advantage
Reed Baker-Whiting opened the scoring in the 30th minute, giving Nashville the lead they would carry into halftime. Austin remained within touching distance at the interval, but the visitors ultimately backed up their advantage with a substantial edge in attacking output.
Elias Saad doubled Nashville’s lead in the 67th minute, leaving the hosts with a steep climb in the closing stages. That second goal gave the visitors breathing room, though Austin were not finished.
Austin respond before the late knockout blows
Brandon Vázquez pulled a goal back for Austin in the 76th minute, reducing the deficit to 2–1 and restoring the possibility of a comeback. With just one goal separating the sides, the fixture still had a tense finish in prospect.
Nashville settled the issue emphatically. Shakur Mohammed struck in the 88th minute to restore the two-goal cushion, and Hany Mukhtar added the fourth in the first minute of stoppage time (90+1’). What had been a narrow advantage became a commanding final margin.
The numbers underline Nashville’s edge
Nashville held 56.7 percent possession and registered 24 shots, including 11 on target. Austin managed 11 attempts, five of them on target, while the visitors also led the corner count 6–4. Those figures reflected Nashville’s greater attacking threat across the match, even if Austin’s second-half reply kept the outcome uncertain until the closing minutes.
For Austin, the frustration was not only conceding four at home, but seeing a route back into the contest disappear so quickly. Nashville, meanwhile, left with three points and a decisive finish to an impressive away performance.
