Inter Miami CF turned star power into three points on Saturday, October 10, as Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi each struck twice in a convincing 4–0 MLS victory over D.C. United at Nu Stadium. Suárez supplied the first-half goals in the third and 39th minutes, before Messi took over after the interval with finishes in the 47th and 60th.

For Messi, the double added a winning chapter to his first Miami appearance since his Argentina farewell. For the hosts, it was a comprehensive result built on possession, attacking accuracy and a clean sheet.

Suárez puts Miami in command

D.C. United were chasing the fixture almost from the outset. Suárez opened the scoring in the third minute, giving Miami an immediate advantage and leaving the visitors with an uphill task.

The Uruguayan struck again in the 39th minute to make it 2–0. His second goal gave the hosts breathing room heading into half-time, while D.C. faced the challenge of finding a route back against an attack that had already punished them twice.

Messi doubles the damage after the break

Any hopes of a D.C. recovery suffered a swift setback after the restart. Messi made it 3–0 in the 47th minute, extending Miami’s lead just two minutes into the second half.

He completed his brace in the 60th minute, bringing the tally to four and effectively settling the contest with half an hour of regulation time remaining. Suárez had shaped the first half; Messi supplied the decisive second-half flourish.

Accuracy separates the sides

The underlying numbers underline Miami’s superiority without suggesting D.C. offered no attacking threat. The visitors attempted 15 shots to Miami’s 17, but managed only two on target. Miami hit the target nine times and held 61.7% possession, turning their greater control into a much more productive evening in front of goal.

That contrast was central to the result: D.C. generated attempts, but Miami delivered the cutting edge. The hosts also finished with a 4–2 advantage in corners and kept the visitors off the scoresheet through the final whistle.

Next fixtures

Both clubs return to MLS action on Wednesday, October 14. Inter Miami face New York City FC, while D.C. United take on Red Bull New York, with both fixtures scheduled for 4:30 PM PDT. Miami move on buoyed by four goals and a clean sheet; D.C. must find greater accuracy in attack and a firmer defensive response.
