Kasper Jørgensen led the way with a first-half double as LASK Linz cruised to a 4–0 victory over Slovan Bratislava at Raiffeisen Arena on Tuesday, November 3, delivering an emphatic UEFA Champions League league-phase performance.
Jørgensen struck in the 19th and 37th minutes before Robert Ljubicic added a third in the 44th minute. Samuel Adeniran then made it four in the 48th minute, leaving the visitors with no route back into the fixture.
Jørgensen puts LASK in command
The breakthrough arrived in the 19th minute when Jørgensen headed LASK in front. It was the first decisive contribution from a player who would put his stamp on the opening half in two different ways.
Slovan’s difficulties deepened as Cristian Martínez was booked in the 25th minute and Kevin Wimmer followed him into the referee’s notebook in the 36th. A minute later, Jørgensen doubled the advantage with a free-kick, giving LASK a firm grip on the contest.
There was still time for another blow before the interval. Ljubicic found the net in the 44th minute to send the hosts into the dressing room with a commanding 3–0 lead and leave Slovan facing a daunting second half.
Adeniran ends any comeback hopes
Any prospect of the visitors regrouping was quickly extinguished after the restart. Adeniran struck in the 48th minute, extending LASK’s advantage to four and completing the night’s goals.
The numbers underlined the hosts’ superiority. LASK registered 29 attempts to Slovan’s seven, with 10 on target compared with five for the visitors. They also held 59.6% possession and won eight corners to Slovan’s two, reflecting the sustained attacking pressure behind the result.
Slovan did produce efforts on target, but there was no consolation goal. LASK paired their attacking output with a clean sheet to round off a thoroughly convincing European evening.
A valuable league-phase statement
The victory leaves LASK with two wins and two defeats in the league phase, while Slovan remain without a point after four losses. For the Austrian side, Jørgensen’s double provided the spark; the goals either side of half-time turned a strong position into an emphatic three points.
