Oscar Bobb’s 80th-minute goal earned Fulham a 1–0 Premier League victory over Coventry City on Saturday, breaking a long-standing deadlock at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
With the fixture still level entering its final ten minutes, a draw remained a real possibility. Bobb provided the decisive intervention, leaving the hosts without a point despite producing more attempts than their visitors in front of 31,449 supporters.
Goalless opening leaves everything to play for
Neither side found a breakthrough before the interval, with the teams heading into half-time at 0–0. Fulham midfielder Shea Charles received a yellow card in the 36th minute, the only booking of the opening half.
Across the match, Fulham enjoyed 64 per cent possession, but that advantage did not translate into a greater volume of attempts. Coventry registered 13 shots to the visitors’ 12, demonstrating that their smaller share of the ball did not prevent them from seeking a breakthrough.
The difference lay in accuracy: Coventry put only two attempts on target, while Fulham managed four. The visitors also finished with six corners to the hosts’ four.
Bobb delivers the decisive moment
The deadlock finally ended when Bobb struck in the 80th minute. His goal gave Fulham the advantage after a goalless first half and much of the second, shifting the pressure onto Coventry to find a late equaliser.
Antonee Robinson was booked two minutes later, but Fulham preserved their narrow lead through the closing stages and six minutes of added time to secure both a clean sheet and all three points.
For Coventry, the frustration was clear: a competitive shot count brought no reward, and one late goal proved enough to decide the fixture. Fulham, meanwhile, left with the result their greater accuracy helped deliver.
