Kansas City Current delivered a clinical aerial double to beat Racing Louisville FC 2–0 at Lynn Family Stadium on Sunday, November 1. Kayla Sharples headed the visitors ahead in the 15th minute, and Haley Hopkins added another header in the 59th to secure all three points in the NWSL fixture.

Sharples gives Kansas City the early edge

Sharples provided the breakthrough after a quarter of an hour, putting Kansas City in front with a header. That advantage held through the interval, leaving Louisville with work to do on home turf.

Racing also picked up two bookings before the break, with Sarah Weber cautioned in the 32nd minute and Katie O’Kane following in the 40th. The hosts reached half-time trailing 1–0 but still within reach of a result.

Hopkins doubles the advantage

Louisville’s task became considerably tougher in the 59th minute when Hopkins headed home Kansas City’s second. With a two-goal cushion, the visitors had breathing room, while Racing needed a much sharper attacking response.

That response never produced a goal. Louisville finished with 10 attempts but put only one on target, a telling limitation against a Kansas City side that combined attacking efficiency with a clean sheet.

Current turn control into three points

The wider numbers reinforced Kansas City’s advantage. The visitors held 57.8 percent possession, outshot Louisville 15–10 and registered five attempts on target to Racing’s one. They also earned seven corners compared with the hosts’ three.

Louisville could not find a route back before the final whistle, which came after five minutes of second-half stoppage time. For Kansas City, headers from Sharples in the 15th minute and Hopkins in the 59th were the decisive contributions in a convincing away victory.
