FC Dallas and Austin FC could not find the decisive touch at Toyota Stadium on Saturday night, settling for a hard-fought 0-0 draw in Major League Soccer.
There were no goal scorers in a match defined by defensive discipline and missed final-third opportunities. Dallas carried the greater attacking volume, producing 12 shots to Austin’s nine and earning eight corners, but neither side could turn its pressure into a breakthrough.
Austin controlled 55 percent of possession and kept the ball moving through midfield, while Dallas were more direct when openings appeared. The hosts put four efforts on target compared with Austin’s three, yet both back lines and goalkeepers preserved a clean sheet.
The contest began with an early flashpoint when Austin defender Mikkel Desler was booked in the 2nd minute. Dallas’ Shaq Moore received a yellow card in the 35th minute, before Austin midfielder Joseph Rosales went into the book three minutes after the interval. Ramiro was cautioned for Dallas in the 90+7th minute as a tense closing stretch failed to produce a late winner.
Dallas will take encouragement from their territorial pressure and set-piece edge, while Austin leave with a valuable point after resisting a busy home attack. It was a legitimate share of the points in a match where neither MLS side had enough cutting edge to separate itself.
FC Dallas return to action on Saturday, September 26, against LAFC. Austin FC are also back in action that day, travelling to face San Diego FC.
