Portland Thorns FC delivered one of their sharpest performances of the NWSL season on Sunday night, sweeping aside Racing Louisville FC 4-0 at Providence Park with a ruthless first-half display and a polished finish after the interval.

The Thorns set the tone early, playing on the front foot and asking questions of Louisville’s back line almost immediately. Their pressure told in the 13th minute when Jayden Perry scored at 13′, rising to power home a header and give the hosts the breakthrough they had been threatening.

That opener settled Portland, and from there the match began to tilt decisively in their favor. Racing Louisville tried to respond and did manage to earn seven corners over the course of the night, but Portland remained the more composed and clinical side in the moments that mattered.

The second goal arrived in the 36th minute through Pietra Tordin at 36′, rewarding another dangerous Thorns spell in possession. Before Louisville could regroup, Portland struck again. Reilyn Turner made it 3-0 at 41′, capping a devastating burst before halftime and sending the Thorns into the break with complete control.

At 3-0 up after the first half, Portland had already done the heavy lifting. The home side finished with 56.4 percent possession, eight shots on target and four assists on their four goals, a reflection of how well they moved the ball and turned pressure into end product.

To Louisville’s credit, they continued to compete after halftime and actually finished with 17 total shots to Portland’s 13, but they could not find a way past the Thorns defense. Portland stayed organized, absorbed the visitors’ spells on the ball, and remained a threat whenever space opened up in transition.

The final flourish came in the 82nd minute when Sophia Wilson scored at 82′ to put an emphatic stamp on the result. By then, Providence Park was already enjoying a commanding home performance; Wilson’s goal simply underlined Portland’s authority.

There was a physical edge to the fixture as well. Jayden Perry went into the book for Portland in the 8th minute, while Ellie Jean saw yellow for Louisville in the 17th and Macey Hodge followed her into the referee’s notebook in the 61st. Jennie Immethun was also booked for the Thorns in the 75th minute.

In the end, this was a complete night for Portland Thorns FC: efficient in front of goal, solid without the ball, and ruthless when momentum swung their way. For Racing Louisville FC, the 4-0 defeat was another difficult outing despite some encouraging shot volume. For the Thorns, it was the kind of statement victory that can build real momentum as the league campaign rolls on.
