Hull City and Ipswich Town shared the points in a lively 2–2 Premier League draw at the MKM Stadium on Saturday, with both sides surrendering a lead before an attendance of 24,459.

Florentino put Ipswich ahead in the 22nd minute, but Hull turned the fixture around through Tim Iroegbunam in the 58th minute and an Oliver McBurnie free-kick in the 68th. Julio Enciso then restored parity in the 74th minute, ensuring the visitors left with a point.

Florentino gives Ipswich the advantage

Ipswich made the first decisive breakthrough when Florentino struck after 22 minutes. His goal proved the difference at the interval, sending the visitors into the dressing room with a 1–0 lead and leaving Hull needing a second-half response.

The visitors finished with 61.6% possession and 15 attempts to Hull’s nine, figures that reflected their greater share of the ball and shooting opportunities. Yet their advantage would not survive a dramatic spell after the restart.

Hull turn the match around

Iroegbunam brought Hull level in the 58th minute, setting up a much different second half from the one Ipswich might have envisaged at the break.

Ten minutes later, McBurnie’s 68th-minute free-kick completed the turnaround. From a goal down at half-time, the hosts now led 2–1, putting themselves within reach of all three points despite having less possession overall.

Hull were efficient with their attacking opportunities: two of their three efforts on target produced goals. They also won six corners to Ipswich’s three, offering a reminder that possession alone did not tell the story of this contest.

Enciso ensures a share of the points

Hull’s lead lasted just six minutes. Enciso struck in the 74th minute to make it 2–2, delivering the final twist in a match that had swung in both directions.

Neither side found a winner before the final whistle. Both finished with three shots on target, and the draw left each with reasons for encouragement as well as frustration: Hull had recovered strongly from their interval deficit, while Ipswich had responded after seeing their own lead disappear.

Hull’s next Premier League fixture is against Arsenal on Saturday, November 7. Ipswich turn their attention to AFC Bournemouth on Sunday, November 8.
