Fenerbahce’s flying start ended in frustration as Pavel Kacor’s 90th-minute equaliser earned Slavia Prague a 2–2 draw at Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium on Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League league phase.
Oguz Aydin opened the scoring in the fourth minute and Mason Greenwood doubled the hosts’ advantage in the 11th. But Lukás Provod pulled a goal back in the 15th minute, setting up a recovery that Kacor completed just as Fenerbahce were approaching the finish line.
Fenerbahce strike early, Slavia respond
Aydin’s fourth-minute opener gave Fenerbahce an ideal platform, and Greenwood’s goal seven minutes later put the home side firmly in command of the result. With a two-goal cushion inside 11 minutes, the hosts had made an emphatic opening statement.
Slavia’s response was swift and crucial. Provod struck in the 15th minute to reduce the deficit to 2–1, ensuring the visitors remained within touching distance after a frantic opening quarter-hour.
That remained the margin at half-time, leaving Fenerbahce ahead but with little room for error.
Kacor delivers the late twist
After three goals in the opening 15 minutes, neither side found the net again until the final minute of regulation. Fenerbahce held their narrow advantage through most of the second half, only for Kacor to strike in the 90th minute and bring Slavia level.
The equaliser transformed the outcome: a home victory became a shared point, while Slavia’s recovery from 2–0 down was complete.
The final statistics underlined how closely contested the fixture had become. Both teams finished with 15 attempts and four shots on target, while Slavia edged possession with 51 per cent and won five corners to Fenerbahce’s three.
A point apiece, contrasting emotions
For Fenerbahce, the draw will sting after such a productive start and so long spent protecting their lead. Slavia, meanwhile, leave Istanbul with a valuable point earned through a comeback that began with Provod’s 15th-minute reply and ended with Kacor’s decisive intervention in the 90th.
Goals: Fenerbahce — Oguz Aydin 4′, Mason Greenwood 11′. Slavia Prague — Lukás Provod 15′, Pavel Kacor 90′.
