Paris Saint-Germain saved their decisive response for the closing stages, overcoming two Barcelona equalisers to claim a pulsating 4–2 Champions League victory at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday.

With the teams level heading into the final ten minutes, a draw remained firmly in play. Instead, Vitinha struck in the 81st minute and Fabián Ruiz added a fourth in the 86th, turning a finely balanced league-phase fixture into a memorable home win.

Doué gives Paris the half-time advantage

Désiré Doué broke the deadlock in the 38th minute, putting PSG ahead and providing the only goal of the opening half. Barcelona went into the interval trailing 1–0, but their response after the restart ensured the hosts would have to work for their three points.

Xavi Espart brought the visitors level in the 55th minute, wiping out PSG’s advantage and setting up a second half that would produce five goals.

Barcelona answer again before PSG pull clear

Lucas Hernández restored the home side’s lead with a header in the 72nd minute. Once again, however, Barcelona found an answer: Lamine Yamal struck in the 79th minute to make it 2–2 and leave the outcome uncertain.

That parity lasted just two minutes. Vitinha’s 81st-minute goal put PSG ahead for the third time, and this time there would be no Barcelona recovery. Fabián Ruiz struck in the 86th minute to establish the first two-goal cushion of the evening and seal the result.

PSG’s greater threat makes the difference

Barcelona had more of the ball, finishing with 52.8% possession, but PSG carried the greater shooting threat. The hosts registered 22 attempts, including 15 on target, compared with Barcelona’s 18 attempts and five on target.

Those figures underline the challenge Barcelona faced beyond their own attacking contributions. Twice they showed the resilience to draw level; ultimately, they could not contain PSG through the decisive stretch.

For Paris, the standout feature was their response to each setback. Four different goalscorers contributed to a victory secured not by protecting a narrow lead, but by finding two more goals when the fixture was at its most precarious.
