Alex Iwobi’s 33rd-minute goal proved decisive as Fulham beat Hull City 1-0 at Craven Cottage on Saturday, turning their dominance of possession into three Premier League points despite a late red card for Ryan Sessegnon.

The hosts finished with 76.2% possession and an 18-5 advantage in attempts, while Hull failed to register a shot on target. Yet with Fulham unable to add to their first-half lead, the outcome remained open until the final whistle.

Iwobi provides the breakthrough

The opening half brought three bookings before its only goal. Hull’s Lucas Herrington was cautioned in the 22nd minute, followed by Fulham’s Josh King and the visitors’ Regan Slater in the 27th.

Iwobi then supplied the decisive contribution in the 33rd minute, putting Fulham ahead and establishing the advantage they took into the interval.

Fulham dominate but leave the door open

The overall numbers underlined Fulham’s control. Alongside their commanding share of possession, they produced six shots on target and won 11 corners to Hull’s two. The visitors managed five attempts, none of which found the target.

That lack of attacking precision left Hull unable to turn a narrow deficit into a draw. Fulham, meanwhile, could not find the second goal that would have given them a more comfortable closing stretch.

Sander Berge received a yellow card in the 84th minute before Sessegnon was shown red in the fourth minute of stoppage time. The dismissal added a late complication, but Hull could not capitalise before the match ended after seven added minutes.

Three points secured, with Coventry next

For Fulham, the reward was a clean sheet and a victory built on Iwobi’s first-half intervention. Their control warranted the win, although the slender margin kept the contest alive longer than the shot and possession figures might suggest.

Fulham next face Coventry City on Saturday, October 24, at 7:00 AM PDT. Hull City return to action against Brentford on Sunday, October 25, also at 7:00 AM PDT.
