Tottenham Hotspur answered a second-half Coventry City equaliser to secure a 3–1 Premier League victory at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday, October 19. James Maddison opened the scoring in the 14th minute, Omar Marmoush restored the hosts’ lead in the 58th and Ben Davies finally put the result beyond doubt at 90+6.

Jack Rudoni’s 49th-minute equaliser had briefly put Coventry on terms, but Spurs responded within nine minutes before adding their third deep into stoppage time in front of 60,913 spectators.

Maddison gives Tottenham the advantage

Maddison’s 14th-minute opener provided Tottenham with the breakthrough and, ultimately, their half-time advantage. The hosts went into the interval 1–0 ahead, with Coventry still firmly in the contest.

There were bookings for Coventry’s Caleb Yirenkyi in the 20th minute and Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke in the 22nd, before visiting defender Jay Da Silva also received a yellow card in the 45th.

Rudoni levels, but Marmoush answers

Coventry changed the complexion of the fixture shortly after the restart. Rudoni struck in the 49th minute to make it 1–1, giving the visitors a route towards a valuable away result.

Tottenham’s response proved decisive. Marmoush found the net in the 58th minute to restore their advantage, leaving Coventry level for just nine minutes. Rudoni was subsequently booked in the 64th as the visitors sought another way back.

With only a goal separating the sides, a draw remained within Coventry’s reach until Davies struck at 90+6. His late contribution gave Tottenham a two-goal cushion and settled the contest.

Spurs turn possession into three points

Tottenham finished with 65.5% possession and a 16–12 advantage in total attempts. More telling was the difference in accuracy: Spurs registered five shots on target to Coventry’s one, with Rudoni converting the visitors’ only on-target effort in the 49th minute.

Both sides won four corners, but Tottenham’s greater cutting edge made the difference. The final margin was established only in stoppage time, reflecting how long Coventry remained within touching distance despite spending more of the match without the ball.

What comes next?
