Nashville SC turned a two-goal deficit into a dramatic 3–2 victory over Red Bull New York at GEODIS Park on Sunday, November 1, with Sam Surridge’s header in the first minute of second-half stoppage time completing the comeback.

Julian Hall struck in the 34th minute and Rafael Mosquera doubled New York’s advantage in the 40th, but own goals from Tim Parker in the 45th and Julián Bazán in the 78th brought Nashville level. Surridge then supplied the decisive touch at 90+1 to settle a five-goal Major League Soccer fixture.

New York’s quick double puts Nashville in trouble

The visitors took control of the result with two goals in six minutes. Hall’s 34th-minute opener broke the deadlock before Mosquera made it 2–0 in the 40th, leaving Nashville facing a significant recovery job before the interval.

A lifeline arrived in the 45th minute when Parker’s own goal cut the deficit. New York still reached halftime 2–1 ahead, but Nashville had reduced the scale of the task at a crucial moment.

Two own goals open the door

Nashville’s overall numbers reflected their attacking foothold: 61.3 percent possession, 21 attempts and seven shots on target. They also earned 12 corners to New York’s three, although those full-match figures tell only part of a contest in which the visitors held the lead deep into the second half.

The equalizer finally arrived in the 78th minute through Bazán’s own goal. Having trailed by two, Nashville were now level at 2–2 with time remaining to pursue a winner.

Surridge delivers the late finish

With the fixture heading toward a draw, Surridge headed Nashville in front at 90+1. It was the hosts’ first lead of the afternoon, and they preserved it through the remaining stoppage time to secure all three points.

For New York, who registered 14 attempts and four shots on target, the defeat was a painful reversal after their productive first-half spell. Two own goals erased their advantage before Surridge’s late intervention completed the turnaround.

Nashville next face FC Cincinnati on Saturday, November 7, while Red Bull New York take on Atlanta United FC the same day. Both fixtures are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. PST.
