Liel Abada delivered a second-half hat-trick as Charlotte FC beat CF Montréal 4–0 at Bank of America Stadium on Wednesday, October 28. Idan Toklomati’s seventh-minute header gave the hosts an early advantage before Abada’s goals in the 67th, 79th and 83rd minutes turned a narrow lead into an emphatic Major League Soccer victory.
Toklomati gives Charlotte the early edge
Charlotte needed just seven minutes to break the deadlock, with Toklomati heading home to put the hosts 1–0 ahead. It proved the only goal of the opening half, leaving Montréal within reach at the interval.
The visitors finished with the greater share of possession, but their difficulty turning the ball into meaningful chances ultimately defined their night. Montréal registered 53.1 percent possession and 10 attempts, yet managed just one shot on target.
Abada takes over after the break
The deficit remained a single goal until the 67th minute, when Abada supplied Charlotte’s second. That breakthrough gave the hosts breathing room and set the stage for a devastating late burst.
Abada struck again in the 79th minute to make it 3–0, then completed his hat-trick in the 83rd. His three goals arrived within 16 minutes, decisively settling a fixture that had remained finely poised for much of the evening.
Charlotte’s attacking efficiency was reflected in the numbers: seven of their 13 attempts were on target, with four finding the net. The hosts also earned eight corners to Montréal’s six, despite having only 46.9 percent of possession.
A clean sheet completes the job
Abada supplied the headline performance, but Charlotte also finished with a clean sheet, restricting Montréal to that solitary effort on target. The contrast between the sides was sharp: the visitors had more of the ball, while Charlotte made their attacking opportunities count.
Both clubs return to action on Saturday, October 31. Charlotte face Orlando City SC at 10:00 a.m. PDT, while Montréal meet New York City FC at 11:00 a.m. PDT. Charlotte head into their next fixture with a convincing victory behind them; Montréal must find a way to turn possession into a more substantial goal threat.
