New England Revolution made their chances count at TQL Stadium on Wednesday, October 14, coming from behind to beat FC Cincinnati 3-2 in an entertaining Major League Soccer fixture. Dor Turgeman’s goals in the 21st and 51st minutes proved decisive, with Joshua Wynder’s 43rd-minute header helping the visitors turn an early setback into three points.
Tom Barlow had put Cincinnati ahead in the 13th minute, while Kévin Denkey’s 67th-minute goal later offered the hosts a route back. But despite enjoying more possession and generating considerably more attempts, Cincinnati could not find the equalizer that would have earned a draw.
New England overturn Cincinnati’s early lead
Barlow gave the home side the start they wanted, opening the scoring after 13 minutes. That advantage lasted just eight minutes: Turgeman struck in the 21st minute to bring New England level and reset the contest.
The decisive first-half swing arrived shortly before the interval. Wynder headed New England in front in the 43rd minute, sending the Revolution into the dressing room with a 2-1 lead and leaving Cincinnati chasing a match they had initially controlled on the scoreboard.
Turgeman’s second provides the cushion
New England strengthened their position six minutes after the restart. Turgeman found the net again in the 51st minute, completing his brace and stretching the visitors’ advantage to 3-1.
That third goal ultimately separated the sides. Denkey reduced Cincinnati’s deficit in the 67th minute, bringing the hosts within one goal with more than 20 minutes of regulation time remaining. Yet there was no further breakthrough, and New England emerged with a hard-earned away victory.
Clinical Revolution outweigh Cincinnati’s volume
The numbers underline Cincinnati’s frustration. The hosts had 58.6 percent possession, outshot New England 21-10 and registered nine attempts on target to the visitors’ five. They also earned 12 corners against New England’s five.
But the Revolution converted three of their five efforts on target. Turgeman’s double and Wynder’s header supplied the cutting edge Cincinnati could not quite match, making efficiency rather than volume the defining feature of the evening.
