Atlanta United FC made their attacking edge count at Stade Saputo on Wednesday, October 14, earning a convincing 3–0 victory over CF Montréal in Major League Soccer.

Goals from Miguel Almirón (22′), Giuliano Galoppo (41′) and Breel Embolo (60′) secured the points for the visitors, who produced twice as many attempts as Montréal despite having slightly less possession.

Atlanta build a decisive first-half lead

Almirón broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute, putting Atlanta on course for a productive night away from home. Montréal remained within one goal for much of the opening period, but Galoppo’s 41st-minute strike gave the visitors a valuable cushion heading into the interval.

That second goal changed the complexion of the hosts’ task. Rather than chasing an equaliser after the restart, Montréal needed two goals just to draw level against an Atlanta side carrying the greater attacking threat.

Embolo puts the result beyond reach

Atlanta goalkeeper Lucas Hoyos received a yellow card in the 58th minute, but the visitors had something to celebrate just two minutes later. Embolo added their third goal on the hour mark, leaving Montréal with a daunting deficit for the final half-hour.

The hosts could not find a response. They finished with 51.5% possession and seven corners to Atlanta’s six, but those advantages did not translate into enough danger. Montréal registered nine attempts, only two on target, while Atlanta produced 18 attempts and six on target.

Those numbers told the story of the evening: Montréal had a marginally greater share of the ball, but Atlanta generated more opportunities and supplied the finishing touches. A clean sheet completed a satisfying away performance.

Quick turnaround for both clubs

Both sides return to MLS action on Saturday, October 17. Montréal face Seattle Sounders FC at 7:30 PM PDT, seeking a response to this home defeat. Atlanta’s next fixture is against Inter Miami CF at 4:30 PM PDT, with this three-goal victory providing an encouraging platform.
