FC Dallas 1-0 LAFC
Osaze Urhoghide’s first-half header proved the difference as FC Dallas edged LAFC 1-0 at Toyota Stadium on Saturday night, delivering a composed Western Conference victory built on defensive resilience.
Dallas found the decisive moment in the 34th minute. Urhoghide rose to power home a header, giving the home side a lead they would protect for the remainder of a tightly contested match.
LAFC saw slightly more of the ball with 51.4 percent possession and created 10 shot assists, but Dallas stood firm when it mattered. The visitors managed 11 attempts and three shots on target, yet could not find a route past a well-organized Dallas rearguard.
The hosts were dangerous in their own right, producing 13 shots and putting four on target despite having 48.6 percent possession. With both sides earning two corners, the match was decided by Dallas making their key aerial opportunity count.
The opening half carried its share of edge. LAFC’s Armindo Sieb was booked in the 23rd minute before teammate Ryan Porteous saw yellow in the 44th. Dallas midfielder Herman Johansson was cautioned in the 71st minute, while late bookings for Nolan Norris in the 90th minute and LAFC substitute Ryan Raposo in the 90th minute reflected the tension of a narrow finish.
Dallas took their 1-0 advantage into half-time and then produced the clean-sheet second half required to see out the result. The victory moves FC Dallas to a 13-8-6 record, while LAFC fall to 11-8-9.
FC Dallas return to action on October 10 against Charlotte FC. LAFC will next face Vancouver Whitecaps on the same day.
