Toronto FC 2-1 Nashville SC (FT)
Toronto FC produced a dramatic late turnaround at BMO Field on Wednesday night, recovering from an early own goal to defeat Nashville SC 2-1 in Major League Soccer.
Nashville made the ideal start when Toronto midfielder Niklas Dorsch turned the ball into his own net in the 3rd minute, handing the visitors a 1-0 lead. Nashville carried that advantage into half-time and looked well placed to extend an impressive league record.
But Toronto remained patient despite seeing less of the ball. Nashville finished with 57.9 per cent possession and eight corners, yet the home side created the more sustained threat in the final third, registering 16 shots and seven efforts on target.
The equaliser arrived in the 72nd minute as Dániel Sallói rose to head Toronto level. The goal shifted the momentum at BMO Field, with the hosts pressing for a winner while Nashville attempted to manage the closing stages.
Toronto’s decisive moment came in stoppage time. Substitute Emilio Aristizábal found the net in the 90+3rd minute, completing a memorable comeback and securing all three points for the Reds.
Nashville pushed through an extended period of added time but could not find a response, with Toronto goalkeeper Luka Gavran booked in the 90+7th minute as the hosts saw out the result.
The victory moves Toronto FC’s record to 6-11-7, while Nashville SC fall to 16-5-3. Toronto next host Orlando City SC on Saturday, while Nashville travel to face Inter Miami CF.
