Nashville SC snatched all three points in dramatic fashion on Wednesday night, with Maxwell Woledzi’s 90+2nd-minute header securing a 1-0 MLS victory over Red Bull New York at Red Bull Arena.

For 90 minutes, the fixture appeared destined to finish level after a tightly contested, goalless opening half and a second period in which both sides struggled to turn promising spells into a decisive breakthrough. Red Bull New York had a slight edge in possession at 52.9 percent and produced 13 shots, but managed only one effort on target against a disciplined Nashville defence.

Nashville were more clinical when it mattered. Despite seeing less of the ball, they put three of their 10 attempts on target and consistently posed a threat from set-piece situations, winning 10 corners to the hosts’ seven.

The visitors finally found their reward deep into stoppage time. Maxwell Woledzi rose to head home in the 90+2nd minute, delivering a crushing late blow to the home side and turning a match headed for a draw into a Nashville triumph.

The encounter had its physical moments, with Nashville’s Daniel Lovitz booked in the 12th minute and Matthew Corcoran cautioned in the 58th. Red Bull New York’s Julián Bazán also saw yellow in the 90+1st minute, shortly before Woledzi’s match-winning intervention.

The result moves Nashville SC on with another valuable away win, while Red Bull New York will rue their inability to convert territorial control into goals. Red Bull New York return to action against Chicago Fire FC on Saturday, while Nashville host Columbus Crew later that day.
