Racing Louisville FC 2-1 Seattle Reign FC — Emma Sears delivered the decisive double as Racing Louisville came from behind to claim a hard-fought National Women’s Soccer League victory over Seattle Reign FC at Lynn Family Stadium.

Seattle made the sharper start and took a 19th-minute lead through Maddie Mercado. But Racing responded with efficiency and resilience, despite spending long spells without the ball, as Sears levelled before half-time and struck again early in the second half to turn the fixture around.

Mercado opens the scoring, Sears answers

Mercado put Seattle ahead in the 19th minute, rewarding the visitors’ early pressure. Reign controlled 65.9 percent of possession, produced 22 shots and won 12 corners, but Racing remained dangerous whenever they could break forward.

Louisville found their equaliser in the 35th minute when Sears finished to make it 1-1. The goal changed the complexion of the match before the interval, with Racing heading into the dressing room level despite Seattle’s territorial advantage.

Sears supplies the winner

Racing came out with purpose after the restart, and Sears completed her brace in the 52nd minute. Her second goal gave the home side a lead they would not relinquish, as Louisville’s defensive work and clinical finishing proved the difference.

Seattle continued to push, registering five shots on target to Racing’s three, but could not find a second breakthrough. Louisville defended their penalty area under sustained pressure and saw out the closing stages to secure all three points in front of 5,258 supporters.

The hosts finished with just eight shots but made their chances count, while Seattle will rue a dominant statistical display that produced only Mercado’s early goal.
