Real Salt Lake turned an early setback into a composed home victory on Saturday night, beating the Colorado Rapids 2-1 at America First Field in Major League Soccer. After Wayne Frederick put the visitors in front in the 7th minute, RSL settled into the fixture, found their rhythm in possession, and produced goals from Zavier Gozo in the 36th minute and Sergi Solans in the 68th to complete the comeback.

The Rapids made the brighter start and needed only seven minutes to silence the home crowd. Frederick struck in the 7th minute to give Colorado a 1-0 lead, rewarding a sharp opening spell in which the visitors looked dangerous whenever they broke forward. With Colorado holding a slight edge in possession on the night, the early goal gave them a platform to try to manage the tempo.

But Real Salt Lake gradually imposed themselves on the match. The home side were far more threatening in the final third, finishing with 17 shots to Colorado's 8 and forcing the issue with 8 efforts on target. Their equaliser arrived in the 36th minute when Gozo found the breakthrough RSL had been pushing for, bringing the sides level at 1-1 before halftime.

That leveller shifted the feel of the fixture. Although Colorado continued to see plenty of the ball and won six corners, Real Salt Lake looked the more incisive side, moving play quicker in advanced areas and asking tougher questions of the Rapids' back line. The visitors' discipline also became an issue, with Hamzat Ojediran booked in the 34th minute, Joshua Atencio cautioned in the 67th minute, and Reggie Cannon shown yellow in the 73rd minute.

The decisive moment came in the 68th minute, just after Colorado's second booking of the evening. Solans rose to score with a header in the 68th minute, putting Real Salt Lake 2-1 ahead and capping a strong second-half push from the home side. It was a goal that reflected RSL's growing authority, with the hosts creating the better openings even while the Rapids remained competitive in midfield.

From there, Real Salt Lake managed the closing stages with determination. Gozo went into the book in the 81st minute as the match became more combative, and DeAndre Yedlin also saw yellow deep into stoppage time at 90+3'. Colorado pushed for a late equaliser, but RSL held firm to see out the result and collect all three points.

In the end, this was a deserved win for the hosts. Real Salt Lake were more productive in front of goal, registered two assists on their two goals, and made their pressure count after conceding early. For Colorado, Frederick's 7th-minute strike offered promise, but the Rapids could not turn their territorial spells into enough clear chances to rescue the fixture.

The victory lifts Real Salt Lake to 7-1-4 on the season, while Colorado drop to 5-1-7 after another frustrating away night in MLS.
