FC Dallas earned a hard-fought 2-1 road victory over Austin FC on Sunday night at Q2 Stadium, with Petar Musa delivering the decisive second-half goal in an absorbing MLS fixture.
Austin controlled much of the ball and pushed the tempo in front of their home support, finishing with 64.5% possession and seven corners. But Dallas were sharper in the decisive moments, producing 15 shots to Austin’s nine and putting six efforts on target.
The visitors struck at the ideal time before the interval. Centre-back Lalas Abubakar rose to head FC Dallas in front in first-half stoppage time, 45+2 minutes, giving Dallas a 1-0 lead at the break.
Austin responded well after halftime and found their equaliser through Ervin Torres in the 57th minute. The goal gave the hosts fresh momentum, and their possession began to translate into sustained pressure in the Dallas half.
Dallas, however, retained a threat in transition and reclaimed the lead in the 73rd minute. Petar Musa supplied the finish to make it 2-1, rewarding the visitors’ more direct and efficient attacking work.
The closing stages were physical and tense, with Dallas managing the match under pressure. Austin could not force a second equaliser despite their territorial advantage, while FC Dallas saw out the result to leave Texas with all three points.
Dallas finished with five yellow cards across the match, while Austin received two, underlining the competitive edge of the contest. For Austin, Torres’ 57th-minute goal offered a positive moment, but the home side were left to rue their inability to turn control of possession into a result.
Goals: Lalas Abubakar 45+2′, Ervin Torres 57′, Petar Musa 73′.
