LA Galaxy spread the goals around in a commanding 4–1 victory over Austin FC at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday, October 31, turning a two-goal halftime advantage into a comfortable MLS win.

João Klauss opened the scoring in the 10th minute, Hirving Lozano headed home in the 38th, and Robert Taylor extended the lead in the 48th. Ervin Torres gave Austin a brief foothold with a 54th-minute reply, but Sergi Roberto restored the three-goal cushion in the 66th.

Galaxy build a decisive advantage

Klauss supplied the early breakthrough after just 10 minutes, putting the hosts in front and leaving Austin chasing the fixture almost from the outset.

The visitors remained within a goal until the closing stages of the first half, when Lozano’s 38th-minute header doubled Galaxy’s advantage. That second goal gave the home side breathing room heading into the interval at 2–0.

Any hopes Austin had of regrouping at halftime took another blow almost immediately after the restart. Taylor struck in the 48th minute to make it 3–0, putting Galaxy firmly on course for all three points.

Torres responds, Roberto settles it

Austin found a response through Torres in the 54th minute, reducing the deficit to 3–1 with more than half an hour still to play. It offered the visitors a route back into the contest, but they could not turn that opening into a sustained comeback.

Roberto’s 66th-minute goal made it 4–1 and ended that brief spell of uncertainty. Four different Galaxy players had found the net, underlining the range of threats Austin had been unable to contain.

The numbers reinforced the hosts’ superiority: Galaxy held 56.3 percent possession and produced 18 shots, with 10 on target. Austin managed 12 attempts but tested the target only twice.

A difficult afternoon for the visitors ended with Zan Kolmanic receiving a red card in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time. By then, the result was long settled.

What’s next?

Galaxy next face Real Salt Lake on Saturday, November 7, at 4:00 p.m. PST. Austin return to action against Portland Timbers at the same time, looking for a response after a heavy defeat in Carson.
