Jess Fishlock delivered the decisive touch twice as Seattle Reign FC claimed a 2-0 NWSL win over Boston Legacy FC at Lumen Field on Friday night.
In front of 7,116 supporters in Seattle, the Reign were clinical in the moments that mattered despite seeing less of the ball. Boston controlled 59.4% possession and won six corners, but Seattle’s defensive shape held firm and limited the visitors to just two shots on target.
Fishlock opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, giving the hosts a 1-0 half-time advantage after a competitive opening period. Boston looked to build pressure through possession, but the Reign carried a sharper threat in the final third, registering 15 attempts and five on target across the match.
The veteran midfielder put the result beyond doubt in the 64th minute, completing her brace and sealing a valuable clean-sheet victory for Seattle. Her two goals accounted for the difference as the Reign managed the closing stages effectively against a Boston side that could not turn territorial control into a breakthrough.
The result moves Seattle Reign FC to 12-4-10, while Boston Legacy FC fall to 7-5-14. Seattle return to action on Friday, October 2, when they host North Carolina Courage. Boston’s next fixture comes on Friday, October 16, away to Racing Louisville FC.
