D.C. United 0-0 LAFC — D.C. United and LAFC settled for a legitimate point apiece after a disciplined, scoreless Major League Soccer match at Audi Field on Saturday night.
There were no goals and therefore no goal scorers in Washington, but the match was not short of attacking intent. LAFC controlled 61.3% of possession and forced eight corners, yet their 17 attempts produced only one shot on target as D.C. United’s defensive structure stood firm.
The home side were more direct when opportunities arrived. D.C. United registered 14 shots and put four on target, testing LAFC more frequently despite seeing only 38.7% of the ball. Neither side, however, could find the final touch needed to turn pressure into a decisive goal.
Set pieces and late attacking phases kept the fixture alive into eight minutes of stoppage time, while D.C. United were shown a yellow card in the 90+7th minute. Still, the deadlock held through the final whistle.
The result leaves D.C. United with a 5-10-7 league record, while LAFC move to 10-6-7. United next host FC Cincinnati on September 5, while LAFC return home to face Real Salt Lake later that day.
