LA Galaxy delivered an efficient away performance on Saturday night, defeating Seattle Sounders FC 2-0 at Lumen Field in Major League Soccer. While the Sounders controlled long stretches of the fixture and finished with more possession and more shots, the visitors were sharper in both penalty areas and took their chances when they came.

The breakthrough arrived in the 23rd minute, when Gabriel Pec (23′) put LA Galaxy in front. It was the key moment of a first half that never fully settled into a rhythm, with the Galaxy happy to absorb pressure and Seattle struggling to turn territorial control into a final product. The visitors also managed the physical side of the contest effectively, even as yellow cards for Justin Haak in the 12th minute and Miki Yamane in first-half stoppage time underlined the edge in their performance.

Seattle pushed for a response after the interval and the numbers suggest they had enough attacking intent to make this a very different evening. The Sounders ended with 57.7 percent possession, 15 total shots, five shots on target and five corners. But for all their pressure, they could not find the finishing touch, and LA Galaxy stayed disciplined without the ball, limiting the home side to frustration as the clock ticked down.

That frustration showed late on. Peter Kingston was booked for Seattle in the 44th minute, and as the match entered its closing stages, the Galaxy picked up further cautions through Edwin Cerrillo in the 89th minute and JT Marcinkowski in the 90th. Even so, the visitors never lost their grip on the result.

Then came the clincher deep into stoppage time. Substitute Matheus Nascimento (90’+2′) finished off the Sounders for good, capping a ruthless counterpunch and putting the outcome beyond doubt. It was LA Galaxy’s second shot on target converted into a goal, a statistic that summed up the difference between the sides on the night.

For Seattle, this was a match that will sting. They built enough attacks, created enough volume and spent enough time on the front foot to expect at least one goal. Instead, they were punished by a Galaxy side that showed real maturity on the road. For LA, this was the kind of away win managers love: compact shape, opportunistic finishing and three points secured with authority.

Final score: Seattle Sounders FC 0-2 LA Galaxy
