Brentford produced an assured and clinical display at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday, May 2, easing to a 3-0 Premier League victory over West Ham United.

The home side took control in the 15th minute when West Ham defender Konstantinos Mavropanos turned the ball into his own net, handing Brentford an early breakthrough. It gave the Bees a platform, and while West Ham saw plenty of the ball across the afternoon, they never truly looked comfortable chasing the fixture.

Brentford went into the interval 1-0 up and emerged for the second half with the sharper edge. Their reward arrived in the 54th minute, when Igor Thiago converted from the penalty spot to double the advantage and put real daylight between the sides.

West Ham attempted to respond and actually edged possession with 51.8 percent, while also winning six corners to Brentford’s two. But Brentford were more efficient in the decisive moments, putting six of their 14 shots on target and defending their area with discipline when the visitors threatened.

Any lingering doubt about the result disappeared in the 82nd minute, when Mikkel Damsgaard added Brentford’s third goal to cap an impressive attacking performance. It was the final flourish in a match the hosts managed with growing authority as the second half wore on.

The visitors’ frustration showed after the break, with yellow cards for Valentin Castellanos in the 59th minute and Crysencio Summerville in the 62nd, while Brentford’s Michael Kayode was booked in the 73rd minute. Oliver Scarles also entered the referee’s notebook deep into stoppage time for West Ham.

In the end, Brentford’s cutting edge made the difference. West Ham finished with 13 shots and four on target, but they could not find a way through, and the clean sheet only underlined how complete a home performance this was.

Goals: Konstantinos Mavropanos (own goal) 15′, Igor Thiago (penalty) 54′, Mikkel Damsgaard 82′.
