Real Salt Lake turned a decisive spell either side of halftime into a commanding 3–0 victory over St. Louis CITY SC at America First Field on Saturday, October 24. Sergi Solans scored in the 41st and 59th minutes, while Dominik Marczuk added a 52nd-minute goal as the hosts made their numerical advantage count.

For St. Louis, the fixture unraveled just before the interval. Solans broke the deadlock in the 41st minute, and Tomas Ostrak was sent off two minutes later, leaving the visitors a goal down and a player short at halftime.

Late first-half breakthrough changes the contest

The opening goal took time to arrive, with neither side finding a way through during the first 40 minutes. St. Louis had already collected bookings through Rafael Santos in the third minute and Ostrak in the 29th, while RSL defender Philip Quinton was cautioned in the 40th.

Solans then supplied the breakthrough in the 41st minute. Ostrak’s dismissal in the 43rd compounded the visitors’ problems, turning a narrow deficit into a much tougher assignment for the second half.

RSL put the result beyond reach

Real Salt Lake wasted little time extending their lead after the restart. Marczuk made it 2–0 in the 52nd minute, and Solans completed his brace in the 59th to give the hosts a three-goal cushion before the hour mark.

The final statistics underlined RSL’s control. They held 60.4 percent possession and outshot St. Louis 20–3, putting eight attempts on target to the visitors’ two. A 7–0 advantage in corners offered another measure of how consistently the hosts carried the attacking threat.

St. Louis could not find a route back into the contest, while RSL paired their three goals with a clean sheet to complete a convincing MLS home victory.
