FC Dallas saved their decisive work for the closing stages, striking three times from the 82nd minute onward to beat San Jose Earthquakes 3-0 at Toyota Stadium on Saturday, October 24.
Petar Musa broke the deadlock in the 82nd minute and doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in the 88th, before Santiago Moreno completed the victory in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time. A Major League Soccer fixture that remained level deep into the second half ultimately finished with an emphatic home win.
Dallas find the breakthrough late
The sides went into halftime goalless, and the prospect of a draw remained alive as the second half wore on. San Jose defender Reid Roberts received a yellow card in the 28th minute, while goalkeeper Angus Gunn was booked in the 64th.
Although possession was closely shared across the match, Dallas produced substantially more attacking output. The hosts finished with 15 shots to San Jose’s four, six efforts on target to one, and a 6-1 advantage in corners. Their 51.3% share of possession underlined that the biggest difference was what the teams did with the ball rather than how long they held it.
Still, Dallas had to wait until the 82nd minute for Musa to supply the opening goal. With the deadlock finally broken, the striker added his second six minutes later, converting an 88th-minute penalty to give the hosts breathing room.
Moreno completes the late flourish
Santiago Moreno added the third in the 90+4th minute, rounding off a ruthless finish from Dallas and leaving San Jose with a heavy defeat after holding out for much of the evening.
The final margin reflected Dallas’ greater attacking production, even if the goals arrived late. For the Earthquakes, just one shot on target across the match offered little opportunity to turn their share of possession into a result.
Musa’s double was the defining contribution, while a clean sheet ensured Dallas’ late breakthrough translated into all three points.
