Minnesota United FC produced a stirring second-half comeback to beat St. Louis CITY SC 3–2 at Allianz Field on Saturday, October 17, turning a two-goal halftime deficit into three MLS points with an 86th-minute winner from Marcus Caldeira.
The visitors had raced ahead through Rafael Navarro in the fourth minute and Jeong Sang-Bin in the 10th. But Minnesota transformed the contest after the interval: Aziel Jackson pulled one back in the 49th minute, Kelvin Yeboah equalized in the 68th, and Caldeira delivered the decisive goal in the 86th.
St. Louis strike twice inside 10 minutes
St. Louis could hardly have asked for a better opening. Navarro’s fourth-minute goal immediately put Minnesota on the back foot, and Jeong doubled the advantage in the 10th minute to leave the hosts facing a substantial recovery job.
That 2–0 lead remained intact at halftime. For Minnesota, the task was clear: find an early response after the restart without allowing the visitors to put the fixture beyond reach.
Three second-half goals turn the match
Jackson supplied precisely the response Minnesota needed in the 49th minute, cutting the deficit to one just four minutes into the second half. Suddenly, St. Louis’ comfortable halftime position looked considerably less secure.
Yeboah’s 68th-minute equalizer then brought the hosts level at 2–2. Having erased the deficit, Minnesota had already put a draw within reach—but there was still time to turn the recovery into victory.
Caldeira completed the turnaround in the 86th minute, giving Minnesota the lead for the first time. The hosts then protected their narrow advantage through the closing stages to secure a memorable home win.
Minnesota make their attacking threat count
The full-match figures underline Minnesota’s attacking output. Despite having only 44.9 percent possession, the hosts registered 27 shots to St. Louis’ 15 and put 11 attempts on target compared with the visitors’ six.
St. Louis held 55.1 percent possession and edged the corner count 7–6, but their early two-goal advantage was ultimately undone by Minnesota’s three unanswered goals after the break.

Both clubs return to MLS action on Saturday, October 24. Minnesota face Houston Dynamo FC, while St. Louis take on Real Salt Lake, with both fixtures scheduled for 5:30 p.m. PDT.
