Toronto FC and Orlando City SC shared the points in a breathless 3–3 Major League Soccer draw at BMO Field on Wednesday, October 14, with Matheus Pereira striking in the 89th minute to deny the visitors a comeback victory.

Toronto twice held the lead before Orlando turned the fixture around with two goals in seven second-half minutes. But the hosts had the final answer, salvaging a point in a contest that produced three goals from the 76th minute onwards.

Toronto lead, Orlando respond before the break

Lewis Morgan put Toronto ahead with a header in the 26th minute, giving the hosts the breakthrough despite Orlando finishing the evening with the greater share of possession.

Toronto could not take that advantage into half-time. Martín Ojeda converted a penalty in first-half stoppage time, at 45+1 minutes, to send the sides into the interval level at 1–1.

The hosts responded quickly after the restart. Theo Corbeanu restored Toronto’s lead in the 49th minute, putting Orlando back in pursuit just four minutes into the second half.

Late turnaround meets an even later reply

Toronto’s 2–1 advantage lasted until the 76th minute, when Antoine Griezmann equalised with a volley. Seven minutes later, substitute Daryl Dike struck in the 83rd minute to give Orlando their first lead of the night.

Having twice come from behind, the visitors were suddenly within touching distance of all three points. Pereira’s 89th-minute equaliser changed that, bringing Toronto level at 3–3 and ensuring the late drama ended with honours even.

Possession tells only part of the story

Orlando controlled 62.6% of possession, but Toronto carried plenty of attacking threat with their smaller share of the ball. The hosts registered 16 shots to Orlando’s 14 and led 7–4 in efforts on target. Both sides won five corners.

Those figures underline why neither side could put the fixture beyond reach. Toronto will rue surrendering two leads, while Orlando will be frustrated not to have protected their late advantage. Ultimately, each emerged with a point from an entertaining Eastern Conference encounter.

Both clubs return to MLS action on Saturday, October 17. Toronto face Red Bull New York, while Orlando take on D.C. United, with both fixtures scheduled for 4:30 PM PDT.
