Feyenoord Rotterdam came from behind to beat Como 3–2 at De Kuip on Wednesday, securing three UEFA Champions League league-phase points despite a stoppage-time scare.
Assane Diao put the visitors ahead in the 18th minute, but Gjivai Zechiël responded in the 20th before Anis Hadj Moussa gave Feyenoord the lead in the 52nd. A Robert Sánchez own goal in the 81st ultimately proved decisive, with Anastasios Douvikas reducing the deficit in the third minute of added time.
Zechiël delivers an immediate response
Como struck first through Diao’s 18th-minute opener, handing the hosts an early setback. Their advantage lasted just two minutes: Zechiël equalised in the 20th minute to restore parity and prevent the visitors from settling into their lead.
The sides went into the interval level at 1–1, leaving both with a platform to pursue victory after the restart.
Hadj Moussa turns the fixture Feyenoord’s way
Feyenoord completed the turnaround seven minutes into the second half, Hadj Moussa finding the net in the 52nd minute to make it 2–1.
Although Como finished with a slight possession advantage of 52.2%, the hosts produced more attempts, registering 13 shots to the visitors’ 11. Both sides recorded five efforts on target, while Feyenoord held a 5–1 advantage in corners.
The contest also brought plenty of interruptions, with 37 fouls committed between the teams. Feyenoord’s Gaoussou Diarra and Givairo Read were booked, alongside Como’s Ivan Smolcic, Jacobo Ramón and Lucas Da Cunha.
Sánchez own goal provides crucial breathing room
Feyenoord moved 3–1 ahead in the 81st minute when Como goalkeeper Sánchez was credited with an own goal. That two-goal cushion would prove essential rather than merely comfortable.
Substitute Douvikas pulled a goal back for Como in the 90+3rd minute, bringing the visitors within one and raising the prospect of a late draw. Feyenoord nevertheless held on through the final whistle to complete their comeback victory.
For the hosts, the immediate response to falling behind and the early second-half breakthrough were central to the result. Como remained competitive, but Sánchez’s own goal left them with too much to recover, even with Douvikas’s late intervention.
