Racing Louisville FC were minutes away from victory before Brecken Mozingo delivered a late twist at Lynn Family Stadium. Her equalizer in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time secured Utah Royals a 1–1 draw in Saturday’s National Women’s Soccer League fixture, canceling out Katie O’Kane’s 42nd-minute penalty.

For Louisville, the finish brought frustration after protecting their advantage throughout the second half. For Utah, it delivered a valuable away point after a match in which they enjoyed more possession and produced more attempts.

O’Kane puts Louisville ahead from the spot

The first half featured bookings for Utah’s Madison Hammond in the 11th minute and Louisville’s Macey Hodge in the 33rd before the hosts made the breakthrough. Katie O’Kane converted a penalty in the 42nd minute, giving Racing a 1–0 lead heading toward the interval.

Further yellow cards followed in first-half stoppage time, with Louisville’s Sarah Weber booked at 45+3 and Utah’s Mina Tanaka at 45+5. Despite those late interruptions, Racing reached halftime with their narrow advantage intact.

Mozingo rescues a point at the last

Utah finished with 58.3 percent possession and 16 shots to Louisville’s 11, while also earning five corners to the hosts’ three. Those advantages did not translate into a greater number of efforts on target: both sides registered four.

As the second half wore on, O’Kane’s penalty remained the difference. Utah’s Kiana Palacios received a yellow card in the 66th minute, but the decisive late intervention came from substitute Brecken Mozingo, who equalized at 90+6 to bring the Royals level.

Louisville could not find another goal before the final whistle, leaving the teams to share the points. Racing had come close to turning their first-half breakthrough into a home win; Utah’s persistence instead ensured a dramatic draw.
