Como delivered a landmark Champions League night at Giuseppe Sinigaglia, sweeping aside RB Leipzig 4-1 with an assured, clinical display in the league phase.
The hosts seized control early and never truly loosened their grip. Martin Baturina opened the scoring in the 15th minute, giving Como the ideal platform, before Anastasios Douvikas doubled the advantage in the 38th minute. Como went into the interval 2-0 ahead after converting their first-half authority into a deserved cushion.
RB Leipzig sought a response after the restart, but Como struck first again. Assane Diao made it 3-0 in the 54th minute, seemingly putting the fixture beyond the visitors’ reach. Leipzig did find a route back four minutes later when Andrija Maksimovic scored in the 58th minute, briefly offering the Bundesliga side a foothold.
Yet Como managed the contest well as Leipzig pushed forward. The visitors had five corners and matched the hosts with 14 shots, but Como were more decisive in the key moments, registering six efforts on target to Leipzig’s four. With possession almost perfectly split, Como’s sharper finishing proved the difference.
Máximo Perrone supplied the final flourish in the 90th minute, restoring the three-goal margin and sealing an emphatic 4-1 victory. Baturina, Douvikas, Diao and Perrone each found the net as Como made a resounding opening statement in their Champions League campaign, while Leipzig were left to rue a difficult evening in Italy.
