VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Vancouver Whitecaps delivered one of their most emphatic performances of the MLS season on Saturday night, dismantling FC Dallas 5-0 at BC Place behind a blistering four-goal first half.
Emmanuel Sabbi opened the scoring in the 11th minute before Brian White struck twice, in the 23rd and 37th minutes, to put Vancouver firmly in command. Édier Ocampo added a headed goal in first-half stoppage time at 45+6′, and substitute Bruno Caicedo completed the rout in the 68th minute.
Whitecaps seize control early
Dallas had little time to settle before Vancouver established control of the match. Sabbi’s 11th-minute goal gave the hosts an early breakthrough, and the Whitecaps continued to press their territorial advantage with purpose and intensity.
White then took over. The Vancouver forward doubled the lead in the 23rd minute and added his second goal of the night in the 37th, turning a promising home performance into a commanding three-goal advantage. Dallas, who collected first-half yellow cards through Shaq Moore, Ran Binyamin and Joshua Torquato, struggled to contain the hosts or establish sustained possession.
There was still time for one more decisive blow before the interval. Ocampo rose to head home in the sixth minute of stoppage time, sending Vancouver into the dressing room with a 4-0 lead.
Complete control after the break
The second half offered Dallas no route back into the fixture. Vancouver remained composed in possession, controlled the tempo and continued to create chances, while the visitors managed just one shot on target from five attempts.
Caicedo made the final scoreline even more emphatic with his 68th-minute goal, capping a polished team display. Vancouver finished with 63.9 percent possession, 17 shots, 10 efforts on target and nine corners, underlining the scale of their dominance.
Dallas registered 36.1 percent possession and three corners, but could not find a response as their resistance faded. Lalas Abubakar was booked in the 59th minute, while Vancouver substitute Mathías Laborda received a late yellow card in stoppage time.
What it means
The victory moves Vancouver’s overall MLS record to 12-4-4 and provides a powerful response after a difficult recent run. FC Dallas fall to 9-6-6 following a night in which the Whitecaps were sharper in every phase.
Vancouver return to action on Saturday, August 29, when Sporting Kansas City visit BC Place. FC Dallas will look to regroup before facing St. Louis CITY SC on Sunday, August 30.
