CF Montréal produced a stirring second-half recovery at Stade Saputo, fighting back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with the New England Revolution in Major League Soccer.
New England appeared firmly in control at the interval after Carles Gil converted a penalty in the 30th minute and Dor Turgeman doubled the visitors’ advantage six minutes later. Gil’s spot-kick gave the Revolution a crucial breakthrough, while Turgeman’s 36th-minute finish put Montréal under real pressure before the break.
But the home side emerged with renewed purpose after half-time. Brayan Vera began the comeback in the 52nd minute, cutting the deficit and injecting fresh energy into Montréal’s play. The hosts continued to push forward, making their set-piece pressure and attacking intent count.
Prince Owusu completed the turnaround in the 59th minute, powering home a header to make it 2-2. The equaliser capped a seven-minute burst that transformed the fixture and ensured Montréal were rewarded for their response.
New England had more of the ball, finishing with 53.8% possession and 21 shots, but Montréal were sharper in front of goal. The hosts placed eight of their 15 attempts on target, compared with five from the Revolution, and won six corners in a determined display.
Neither side found a late winner, but Montréal will take confidence from a resilient point after trailing 2-0 at half-time. For New England, the draw will feel like a missed opportunity after such an authoritative opening 45 minutes.
