Charlotte FC produced a stirring second-half rally on Saturday night, overturning a two-goal halftime deficit to claim a deserved 2-2 draw with FC Cincinnati in Major League Soccer at Bank of America Stadium.

FC Cincinnati looked in complete control before the break after goals from Kévin Denkey in the 36th minute and Evander in the 43rd minute put the visitors firmly on top. But Charlotte came flying out after halftime and flipped the mood of the fixture in the space of barely 60 seconds, with Idan Toklomati heading home in the 51st minute before Pep Biel struck in the 52nd to bring the hosts level.

The first half belonged largely to Cincinnati, who enjoyed a slight edge in possession and carried the sharper threat in the final third. Charlotte had moments of promise, winning seven corners across the night, but it was the visitors who found the breakthrough. Denkey opened the scoring in the 36th minute, giving Cincinnati the platform they wanted away from home.

Things got even better for the visitors just before the interval when Evander doubled the advantage in the 43rd minute. At 2-0 down at halftime, Charlotte appeared to be staring at another frustrating night, especially given Cincinnati’s recent unbeaten form coming into the fixture.

Instead, the home side responded with real conviction. Toklomati sparked the comeback in the 51st minute with a header that shifted momentum instantly and brought the crowd to life. Before Cincinnati could settle, Pep Biel struck in the 52nd minute to complete a remarkable quick-fire turnaround and level the match at 2-2.

From there, the contest became more tense and scrappy. Charlotte’s Ashley Westwood was booked in the 54th minute as the temperature rose, while Cincinnati collected yellow cards through Gerardo Valenzuela in the 26th minute, Samuel Gidi in the 62nd minute, Evander in the 77th minute, and Obinna Nwobodo in the 90th minute.

Statistically, there was little to separate the sides. Cincinnati finished with 52.7 percent possession to Charlotte’s 47.3 and edged total shots 13-12, while also putting five efforts on target compared to Charlotte’s three. Charlotte, though, made their pressure count in the second half and showed the clinical touch they lacked before the interval.

In the end, this was a draw that felt fully earned by Charlotte after a disastrous close to the first half, while Cincinnati may view it as two points dropped after establishing such a commanding lead. For the neutral, it was an entertaining MLS fixture defined by momentum swings, sharp finishing, and a home side that refused to fold.
