Ipswich Town fought back to earn a point against Nottingham Forest on Friday, October 23, with Julio Enciso’s 41st-minute equaliser securing a 1-1 Premier League draw at Portman Road after Neco Williams had put the visitors ahead in the 13th minute.
Forest produced more attempts across the evening, but could not turn that advantage into a winner in front of 29,198 spectators. A goalless second half left both sides with a share of the points.
Enciso responds before the interval
Williams gave Forest the early breakthrough in the 13th minute, putting the visitors in front and leaving Ipswich chasing the fixture.
The hosts found their answer before half-time. Enciso struck in the 41st minute to restore parity, ensuring Ipswich went into the interval level rather than facing another half with a deficit to overturn.
Forest’s greater shot volume yields no winner
The second half brought no further goals. Ipswich defender Issa Diop was booked in the 51st minute, followed by Forest’s Murillo in the 54th, as both sides sought a decisive breakthrough.
Forest finished with 17 attempts to Ipswich’s seven and led five to three in shots on target. They also won five corners without conceding one, although possession was much closer: 50.7 per cent for the visitors against 49.3 per cent for the hosts.
Those figures underline Forest’s greater attacking output, but Ipswich kept the visitors from adding to their early goal. Even with nine minutes of second-half stoppage time, neither side found a winner.
A point apiece at Portman Road
For Ipswich, the evening brought the reward of recovering from an early setback. For Forest, there was frustration in leaving with a draw despite their advantage in attempts. Enciso’s equaliser ultimately proved the defining response in a contest settled by two first-half goals.
Both clubs return to action on Saturday, October 31. Ipswich face Hull City, while Nottingham Forest take on Brentford, with both fixtures scheduled for 8:00 AM PDT.
