VfB Stuttgart claimed a convincing 3–0 victory over Slovan Bratislava at Národny Futbalovy Stadión on Wednesday, maintaining their perfect start to the UEFA Champions League league phase.

Deniz Undav opened the scoring in the 29th minute before Sandro Cruz’s 64th-minute own goal strengthened the visitors’ grip. Substitute Ermedin Demirovic added a header in the 90th minute to complete a productive evening for Stuttgart.

Undav gives Stuttgart the advantage

Stuttgart’s first-half breakthrough arrived through Undav in the 29th minute, giving the visitors a lead they carried into the interval.

There were disciplinary concerns along the way, with Ramon Hendriks booked after 12 minutes and Bilal El Khannouss cautioned in the 26th. Neither booking prevented Stuttgart from establishing the advantage, however, and the visitors finished the opening half 1–0 ahead.

Own goal puts Slovan further behind

Slovan remained within reach at the restart, but their task became considerably harder when Cruz put through his own net in the 64th minute. The own goal doubled Stuttgart’s lead and left the hosts needing a substantial turnaround.

The overall figures underline Stuttgart’s control. They held 64.1% possession and won eight corners to Slovan’s one, while their greater accuracy in front of goal proved decisive.

Although the hosts registered 15 attempts to Stuttgart’s 16, only one of Slovan’s efforts was on target. The visitors tested the opposition goalkeeper with eight attempts on target, a telling contrast in a fixture where the shot totals alone suggested a closer contest.

Demirovic supplies the finishing touch

Demirovic completed the scoring with a 90th-minute header, taking Stuttgart’s lead to 3–0 and adding a late flourish to their away victory.

The result leaves Stuttgart with two wins from two league-phase fixtures, while Slovan have suffered two defeats. For the visitors, three goals and a clean sheet made this an emphatic continuation of their European campaign; for the hosts, turning attempts into genuine danger remains the clear lesson from a difficult night.
