Hull City and Everton shared the points in a dramatic 2–2 Premier League draw at the MKM Stadium on Sunday, October 11, with all four goals arriving in a 26-minute burst after half-time.
Joe Gelhardt put Hull ahead in the 48th minute, before Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s 55th-minute header and Thierno Barry’s 68th-minute goal turned the fixture Everton’s way. But substitute Mohamed Belloumi struck in the 74th minute to restore parity in front of 24,458 spectators.
Goalless opening gives way to four-goal drama
The sides reached the interval level at 0–0, with Hull’s Matt Crooks booked in the 13th minute and Oliver McBurnie following him into the referee’s notebook in the 21st.
The breakthrough came just three minutes after the restart. Gelhardt’s 48th-minute goal gave the Tigers the lead and set in motion a second half that swung sharply between the two sides.
Everton needed only seven minutes to respond. Dewsbury-Hall headed home in the 55th minute to make it 1–1, and Barry then put the visitors ahead in the 68th minute. Having fallen behind early in the half, the Toffees were suddenly in position to take all three points.
Belloumi delivers Hull’s response
Hull’s reply was equally swift. Belloumi, introduced from the bench, found the net in the 74th minute, cancelling out Everton’s advantage just six minutes after Barry’s goal.
Neither side added another before the final whistle, leaving Hull with a point earned through their response to Everton’s turnaround and the visitors with a draw after surrendering their second-half lead.
Everton’s possession advantage not enough
Everton finished with 64.8% possession and led the shot count 15–9, including seven efforts on target to Hull’s five. Those figures underline the visitors’ greater share of the ball and attacking output, but Hull made enough of their opportunities to secure an equal share of the points.
The hosts also edged the corner count 7–6. Ultimately, this was a fixture decided not by possession alone, but by both teams’ ability to respond when the result threatened to slip away.
