Ipswich Town claimed a dramatic 3-2 Premier League victory over 10-man Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, with Zian Flemming striking in the 90th minute to settle an absorbing five-goal match.
Palace made a bright start and took the lead in the 14th minute through Anan Khalaili. But Ipswich responded decisively, drawing level when Emersonn headed home in the 23rd minute before the momentum of the contest shifted further following Axel Disasi’s red card in the 34th minute.
The visitors made their numerical advantage count before the interval. Leif Davis headed Ipswich in front in the 45th minute, sending the Tractor Boys into the break with a 2-1 lead.
Palace refused to fold despite being a player down. They pushed forward in the second half and found an equaliser in the 75th minute, when Jørgen Strand Larsen finished to bring Selhurst Park back to life.
Yet Ipswich had the final word. Flemming struck in the 90th minute to restore the visitors’ lead and secure all three points in a pulsating finish.
Ipswich edged the ball possession 53.5% to 46.5% and produced 12 shots, six of them on target, compared with Palace’s 11 attempts and four on target. Palace also earned six corners to Ipswich’s three, but the visitors’ greater control and late cutting edge proved decisive.
Crystal Palace will look to respond when they face Leeds United on September 19, while Ipswich Town carry momentum into their fixture against Everton on the same day.
