Bayern Munich 5-0 Bodo/Glimt

Bayern Munich produced a ruthless second-half display to sweep aside Bodo/Glimt 5-0 in their UEFA Champions League league-phase fixture at the Allianz Arena on Thursday.

After Bodo/Glimt had held firm through a goalless opening 45 minutes, Bayern found another gear immediately after the interval. Jamal Musiala broke the deadlock in the 47th minute, setting the hosts on their way after a first half in which they had controlled territory but could not find the decisive final touch.

The Bundesliga side’s pressure became increasingly overwhelming. Harry Kane doubled the advantage with a header in the 61st minute, before Alphonso Davies made it 3-0 in the 77th minute as Bayern’s attacking waves finally tore through the visitors’ resistance.

Michael Olise then put the finishing touches on an emphatic night. The winger struck in the 83rd minute and added his second goal in stoppage time, scoring in the 90+2nd minute to complete the 5-0 result.

Bodo/Glimt’s difficult evening worsened in the 87th minute when defender Odin Bjørtuft was shown a red card. By then, however, Bayern had already established complete command of the match.

The numbers reflected the home side’s dominance. Bayern held 65.7% possession, attempted 25 shots and placed 12 on target, while Bodo/Glimt managed three efforts without registering a shot on target. Bayern also won six corners and created 19 shot assists in a sustained attacking performance.

For the first half, Bodo/Glimt’s compact defending had offered hope of a hard-earned result in Munich. But Musiala’s early second-half opener changed the rhythm entirely, and Bayern’s quality in the final third ensured there was no route back for the Norwegian side.

The result gives Bayern a commanding start to their Champions League league-phase campaign, while Bodo/Glimt will look to respond quickly after being punished by one of Europe’s most relentless attacks.
