Brighton & Hove Albion fought back to claim a 1-1 Premier League draw with Leeds United at the American Express Stadium, with Luka Vuskovic’s second-half header cancelling out Jayden Bogle’s early opener.
Leeds made the sharper start and struck in the 15th minute through Bogle, who gave the visitors a lead to protect after being booked inside the opening six minutes. The away side went into half-time 1-0 ahead, despite Brighton controlling the greater share of the ball.
The Seagulls steadily turned the pressure up after the interval. Brighton finished with 66.8% possession, 20 shots and seven corners, while both sides registered five efforts on target. Leeds remained disciplined without the ball but had to absorb repeated Brighton attacks as the home side searched for an equaliser.
That breakthrough arrived in the 71st minute. Vuskovic rose to head Brighton level, rewarding the hosts’ sustained second-half pressure and setting up a tense closing spell in Falmer.
Neither team could find a late winner. Dominic Calvert-Lewin was booked for Leeds in the 64th minute, while Harry Wilson saw yellow in the 85th minute and substitute Promise David was cautioned for the visitors in the 88th. Brighton’s Pascal Gross and Maxim De Cuyper were also booked in a competitive contest.
The draw leaves Brighton with a 1-1-1 league record, while Leeds move to 1-2-0. Brighton next face Coventry City on Sunday, September 13, while Leeds return to action against Newcastle United on Monday, September 14.
