Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur settled for a hard-earned 0-0 draw at the City Ground on Saturday, with neither side able to find the decisive touch in a tightly contested Premier League fixture.
There were no goal scorers in Nottingham as both defences stood firm across 90 minutes plus six minutes of added time. Tottenham had the greater share of the ball, finishing with 58.6% possession, and forced 10 corners, but their territorial control did not translate into a single shot on target.
Forest were more direct in their approach and matched Spurs with 12 attempts apiece. The home side put two efforts on target despite having only 41.4% possession, while their defensive work and organisation ensured Tottenham were kept at arm’s length when it mattered.
The match became increasingly combative. Destiny Udogie was booked for Tottenham in first-half stoppage time at 45+1′, before Forest defender Nikola Milenkovic saw yellow in the 52nd minute. James McAtee joined him in the book in the 78th minute, with Tottenham substitute Mateus Fernandes cautioned in the 84th.
In front of 30,686 supporters, Forest claimed a legitimate point through resilience and defensive discipline, while Spurs will reflect on an afternoon in which their possession and set-piece pressure produced no end product. Forest next host Aston Villa on September 12, while Tottenham welcome Everton later that day.
