Philadelphia Union produced an impressive comeback under the lights at Subaru Park on Wednesday night, defeating Red Bull New York 3-1 in this Major League Soccer fixture after recovering from an early setback.

Red Bull New York struck first in the 9th minute when Cade Cowell finished to give the visitors an early advantage, rewarding a bright opening spell from the away side. Despite seeing less of the ball overall, Philadelphia gradually settled, began to find space in advanced areas, and pushed the tempo on home soil.

The equalizer arrived in the 38th minute through Milan Iloski, and it was a deserved response from a Union side that had started to tilt the match in its favor. The goal sent the sides into the interval level at 1-1, but the overall flow already suggested Philadelphia were building momentum.

That trend continued after the restart. The Union went in front in the 57th minute when Indiana Vassilev found the net, capping a strong spell of pressure from the hosts. Then, just nine minutes later, Philadelphia added breathing room as Neil Pierre rose to score a header in the 66th minute, putting the home side firmly in control at 3-1.

What made the result stand out was the contrast between possession and attacking threat.
