Inter Miami CF turned a second-half deficit into three points at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, November 1, with Lionel Messi’s 83rd-minute winner sealing a 2–1 victory over New England Revolution. Dániel Gazdag had put the hosts ahead in the 53rd minute before Germán Berterame’s 69th-minute header set up Miami’s late turnaround.

Gazdag breaks the deadlock

A goalless first half left this MLS Eastern Conference fixture finely balanced at the interval. Gonzalo Luján’s 25th-minute booking was the only disciplinary incident before the break, with all three goals still to come.

New England made the breakthrough eight minutes after the restart. Gazdag found the net in the 53rd minute to give the Revolution a 1–0 lead and leave Miami needing a response on the road.

Berterame responds before Messi decides it

That response arrived in the 69th minute, when Berterame headed home to bring Miami level. New England’s advantage had lasted 16 minutes, and the visitors now had time to pursue more than a draw.

With seven minutes of regulation remaining, Messi delivered the decisive goal. His 83rd-minute strike put Miami ahead for the first time, completing a comeback that transformed the closing stages for both sides.

Miami protected their lead through seven minutes of added time to secure the away victory. Matías Galarza and Telasco Segovia received second-half bookings for the visitors, while New England’s Luca Langoni was cautioned in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

Miami make their attacking edge count

New England finished with 54.7 percent possession and a 7–1 advantage in corners, but Miami carried the greater threat on target. The visitors registered six efforts on target to the Revolution’s three and edged the overall shot count 14–13.

Those figures underline the hosts’ frustration: their greater share of the ball and set-piece opportunities did not translate into a second goal. Miami, meanwhile, found the two finishes needed to overturn Gazdag’s opener and leave Foxborough with all three points.
