San Diego Wave FC and Boston Legacy FC shared the points in a 2–2 National Women’s Soccer League draw at Snapdragon Stadium on Sunday, October 25, with all four goals arriving after a goalless first half.

Annie Karich put Boston ahead in the 48th minute, but Gia Corley’s 51st-minute equalizer and a Laís Araújo own goal in the 54th minute quickly turned the fixture in San Diego’s favor. Alba Caño then restored parity in the 73rd minute to earn the visitors a point.

Three goals transform the contest after halftime

Neither side found a breakthrough before the interval, leaving the match finely balanced at 0–0. That changed dramatically after the restart, with three goals in six minutes.

Karich struck in the 48th minute to give Boston the lead, only for Corley to bring the Wave level three minutes later. San Diego’s turnaround was complete in the 54th minute when Boston defender Araújo’s own goal handed the hosts a 2–1 advantage.

Having gone from leading to trailing in rapid succession, Boston needed another response. Caño provided it in the 73rd minute, making it 2–2 and setting up a closing stretch with both sides still in contention for all three points.

Wave’s possession advantage fails to separate the sides

San Diego finished with 58.8 percent possession and a 13–11 advantage in total shots, but Boston registered five attempts on target to the hosts’ four. Those figures reflected a contest in which the Wave saw more of the ball without keeping the visitors from posing a threat.

There was no further breakthrough after Caño’s equalizer. San Diego’s Kenza Dali and Boston goalkeeper Laurel Ivory both received yellow cards in the third minute of stoppage time, and the match ended level.

For the Wave, the frustration was surrendering a lead they had seized so quickly. For Boston, the point came through a recovery after their own opening goal had been overtaken by San Diego’s swift response.
