Racing Louisville FC claimed an impressive 3-1 road victory over Orlando Pride on Friday night, with Emma Sears scoring twice in the second half to settle an entertaining NWSL contest at Inter&Co Stadium.
Louisville made the sharper start and turned their early pressure into a 16th-minute lead. Audrey McKeen rose to head home the opening goal, giving the visitors a deserved advantage at the interval.
Orlando responded with greater control after the break and finished with a narrow edge in possession, 51.9% to 48.1%, but Racing remained a persistent threat in transition and created the greater volume of attacking opportunities. Louisville recorded 20 shots and seven on target, compared with Orlando’s 18 shots and six on frame.
Sears doubled Racing’s lead in the 68th minute, providing the crucial second goal as Orlando looked for a route back into the match. The forward then made sure of the points in the 86th minute, completing her brace and putting Louisville 3-0 ahead.
Orlando did find a late response through Kerry Abello, who scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time, 90+4′, but it arrived too late to alter the outcome. The Pride also won eight corners, one fewer than Louisville’s nine, yet could not translate their set-piece pressure into enough goals.
McKeen’s 16th-minute header set the platform, while Sears’ goals in the 68th and 86th minutes delivered the decisive margin for Racing Louisville. Abello’s 90+4′ strike ensured Orlando had the final word, but Louisville left Florida with a convincing three points.
