Seattle Sounders FC left it late but found a deserved equalizer on Saturday night, as Daniel Musovski’s 80th-minute finish secured a 1-1 draw with San Diego FC in Major League Soccer at Lumen Field.

San Diego FC struck first through Marcus Ingvartsen in the 18th minute, silencing the home crowd and giving the visitors a first-half advantage despite Seattle’s willingness to push the tempo. The Sounders spent much of the night asking questions in the final third, but they went into the interval trailing 1-0 after San Diego managed the opening 45 minutes efficiently.

Seattle increased the pressure after the break and the numbers reflected that control. The Sounders finished with 26 shots, 5 on target and 8 corners, repeatedly pinning San Diego back and forcing the visitors to defend their penalty area for long stretches. San Diego still carried a threat of their own and edged possession at 53.3 percent, but the second half increasingly felt like a matter of whether Seattle could turn territorial pressure into a goal.

The visitors’ resistance was tested further as the match grew more physical. Seattle’s Jesús Ferreira was booked in the 51st minute, Snyder Brunell followed with a yellow card in the 56th minute, and Cristian Roldan entered the book a minute later. Alex Mighten saw yellow for San Diego in the 75th minute before Oscar Verhoeven was cautioned in the 78th, moments before the decisive equalizer arrived.

That leveller came in the 80th minute, when Musovski connected cleanly on a volley to bring Seattle level at 1-1. It was the breakthrough the Sounders had been chasing for most of the second half, and it ensured their persistence was rewarded with a point. Given the balance of chances, the draw felt like a fair result, even if Seattle may wonder how they did not find a winner after generating so much attacking volume.

For Seattle, the comeback keeps momentum moving in the right direction and underlines the side’s resilience at home. For San Diego, this was a disciplined road performance with Ingvartsen’s 18th-minute goal providing the platform for a valuable away draw. In the end, both clubs had their moments, and both had to settle for a point in a competitive MLS fixture.
