AFC Bournemouth produced a composed away performance to leave St. James’ Park with all three points on Saturday, beating Newcastle United 2-1 in an entertaining Premier League fixture settled by Adrien Truffert’s late winner.

The visitors struck first through Marcus Tavernier in the 32nd minute and took that advantage into the interval after a disciplined first-half display. Newcastle responded after the break and found an equaliser in the 68th minute when William Osula brought the home side level, giving the crowd hope of a turnaround. But Bournemouth kept pushing and were rewarded in the 85th minute, when Truffert popped up with the decisive goal to seal a valuable result on Tyneside.

There was little to separate the sides statistically. Newcastle edged possession with 53.7 percent and matched Bournemouth with 12 total shots, while both teams managed three efforts on target. That balance was reflected in the flow of the match, which often felt like it would be decided by one moment of quality or one lapse in concentration.

Bournemouth’s opener arrived from Tavernier on 32 minutes, a goal that gave the away side belief and quieted the home support. Newcastle tried to raise the tempo after the restart, but Bournemouth remained competitive in midfield and committed to the duel, even as yellow cards for Ryan Christie in the 52nd minute and Tavernier in the 55th showed the edge with which they were defending their lead.

The Magpies finally found their breakthrough in the 68th minute through Osula, whose goal restored parity and changed the atmosphere inside the ground. Eddie Howe’s side looked capable of turning one point into three from there, but Bournemouth stayed in the contest and refused to retreat entirely.

That resilience paid off five minutes from time. Truffert struck in the 85th minute to make it 2-1, delivering the decisive blow in a match that had swung back and forth over the second half. Newcastle could not find a second response in a lengthy spell of stoppage time, and Bournemouth saw out the closing moments to secure a notable away victory.

Discipline became a factor late on, with Sven Botman booked in the 77th minute and Jacob Murphy in the 80th for Newcastle, while Alex Scott entered the book for Bournemouth in the 82nd minute. Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic was also shown a yellow card deep into stoppage time as the visitors managed the final seconds.

For Newcastle, it was another frustrating result despite a decent share of the ball and home support from a crowd of 52,109. For Bournemouth, this was a mature and opportunistic display, built on taking their chances at key moments. Tavernier set the tone in the first half, Osula threatened to change the script in the second, but Truffert had the final word in the 85th minute.

Goals: Marcus Tavernier 32′ (AFC Bournemouth), William Osula 68′ (Newcastle United), Adrien Truffert 85′ (AFC Bournemouth).
